One Creative Act

Soften the Heart, Soften the Home — Five Practices for Creating and Returning to the Place that needs us most

Episode Summary

Season Three is here! It is a special season. Spring is here. And with that, green, growth, hope, and creativity seem to be blooming. It’s also a season for gratitude. The world continues to swirl and Home has become more important than ever. This season, I weave the theme of Home into each episode. It’s the first season I expand beyond the walls of Jacksonville, Florida, and I begin introducing the people and places in my life who cause the experience of HOME — because of who they are, their talents, their commitment to live boldly, with humor and heart, and make every space feel like an invitation - like coming HOME. A lot of the people you’ll hear from this season are why I feel at home — in my life and in my work, successes and celebrations and also through struggles and challenges. Home is a physical space that has the ability to awaken our senses while still holding something familiar and safe. There’s a security in home and it represents for a lot of us, a place where we get to throw off our coat or shoes and relax — and just be ourselves with the ones we love most. In this solo episode, I share five practices for creating and returning home. With simple things to remember, we have the opportunity to shift the space that matters the very most. Home is where the heart is. So what better creative act than to soften the heart and soften the home?

Episode Notes

Welcoming Season Three is amazing! I am so excited to bring this special season of green growth, hope, and creativity to you — and it's perfectly situated in the spring months. It’s a season to grow gratitude, too — as the world continues to swirl and uncertainties are guaranteed, this season and the beauty that Home has become seems to be more important than ever.

Creating Home is the theme this season. It’s the first season I expand beyond the walls of Jacksonville, Florida; I introduce the people and places in my life who cause the experience of HOME — because of who they are, their talents, their commitment to live boldly, with humor and heart, and make every space feel like an invitation — like coming HOME. A lot of the people you’ll hear from this season are why I feel at home — in my life and in my work, successes and celebrations and also through struggles and challenges. The season is full of authentic conversations with creatives who have blessed me with the experience of Home through the decades. These are some of my dearest friends and colleagues, teachers and inspirations.

In this solo episode, I share five practices for creating and returning home. With simple things to remember, we have the opportunity to shift the space that matters the very most. Home is where the heart is. So what better creative act than to soften the heart and soften the home?

Although home is a physical space that has the ability to awaken our senses, it also represents a space where we can just be ourselves with the ones we love most. This season is a combination of solo and guest episodes that invite listeners into the experience of creating home within the walls of your house and within the relationships that matter most to you.
